Minet Insurance Brokers says it has ventured into the tourism and agriculture sectors as part of its diversification drive.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the firm’s managing director Delvin Khongono said they have expanded into tourism and agriculture sectors since its rebranding. “We find tourism and agriculture to be among the growing sectors of the economy. As such, we partnered with some insurance companies to introduce new products for these markets”, he said.

Khongono said the policy covers assets and legal liabilities that these entities may experience. On agriculture, he said, they have introduced crop insurance package for various crops. “We have introduced crop insurance for tobacco, maize, sugar cane, bananas, and cotton, among other crops”.

“Our crop insurance protects the farmer against loss of or damage to crop due to drought or due to too much rainfall. The cover also extends to transit risks, as the crop is being taken to the market”, said Khongono. He said that since the rebranding in November 2017, Minet has received goodwill from the insuring public evidenced by growth in business.
